St. Goar & Munich
St. GoarAfter 6 hours on the coach, we arrived at St. Goar; which was similar to Napa valley but produces mainly white wine. There was a wine tasting demo, which I decided to pass since its white wine. The hotel wasn't that great and no TV. St. Goar is simply a peaceful, sleepy little town, which I don't think I will be able to live in. St. Goar is home to the world's largest free-stand cuckoo clock and beer stein. I was planning to buy 2 beer stein for my dad and myself, =( however I figure it was too much trouble to carry it back home and through out the tour. We took some pics and walked around the small town.
Munich
On our way to the hotel, we passed by the Olympic stadium; BMW's and Mercedes-Benz's headquarter. I'm not sure what's the big deal what seeing BMW and Mercedes' headquarter? Anyways, we got into Munich about 5pm to check out the Glockenspiel, which was kind of boring. We were free to do anything we want for the rest of the night. We did some shopping and things were pretty cheap, especially compared to London. I thought it was cool how they have Forever 18 instead if Forever 21. I brought a white shirt for the whiteout party in Austria and this yellow tank top for Nancy; hopefully she'll like it. The warm roasted Almonds was really good, I wish I had some beer w/ it. We decided to meet up with tour group at the Hofbrau (aka beer hall) for dinner. As I recall from Kristy, it was during Hitler's rise to power- it was a place where he often gave speeches to the Nazi party.
The Hofbrau was fully pack that many of us separated, which I didn't mind at all since many of them were standing in the back drinking beer. A family of 4 didn't mind sharing a table w/ Wendy, a couple from the tour and I. Since the Germans didn't speak much English, we had to point at someone else's Pork Knuckles to order. I wanted to try something else, but Wendy was a little annoyed and stated that we can't read the menu so how can we order? I told her that we could point again. ha-ha.. but I know she didn't want to spend the extra money. Which sucks b/c the only thing I wanted to do on this trip was to try different food from different countries. Anyways, I order a stein of beer, which is equal to 1 liter. =) Man, this was one good beer and the pork knuckles makes it way better! Everyone was having a good time and I wanted another stein of beer, but I figure I better not, just in case I need the restroom on our way home, but I did have a small beer. I actually had a very good time tonight. Everyone clapped and moved to the music. One thing I loved about the beer hall was that it was crowd w/ natives and tourists together having a great time. A place, where family and friends can share dinner and have some good beer. Just having a good time clapping, singing and some dancing. It was definitely a warm feeling. We didn't see much of Munich, just some shopping and the beer hall was good enough for me.
